Hudson and the Hoo Doo Cats

Austin, Texas born and raised, Hudson Harkins, songwriter, singer, drummer and bandleader, has led his band, Hudson and the Hoo Doo Cats, through over 5,000 gigs since it’s inception in 1989.  During this time, Harkins has fronted the band through a multitude of club dates, concerts, festivals, casino and corporate events, as well as five studio albums.

After living in Austin for 39 years and touring Texas, the Midwest, and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, Harkins decided to move to Saint Louis, Missouri in 1994 where his band has become quite successful.

Blending the influences of Texas rockin’ blues, country, rockabilly, and swing, with St. Louis’s historic soul, jump blues and groovin’ urban blues, in addition to many of Hudson’s original songs, have proven to play a key role in the band’s long success.

In recent years, Hudson has tapped on some of the finest musicians in the St. Louis area. His band is ever-evolving in different directions with a revolving set of all-star players.

Javier Mendoza Presents Hobo Cane

Javier Mendoza Presents Hobo Cane

Born as Javier Alberto Mendoza in the state of Virginia to a Spanish mother and Mexican/American father, Javier's love for music burned bright from a young age. He started his musical career joining Warner-Chappell as a staff writer in Miami, FL. There he spent his time writing tunes for mega pop sensations such as Enrique Iglesias, Juan David, Ricky Martin, Rosario and more. The ever-winding path of life took him to St. Louis where he saw musical success with his new following. In 2014, Mendoza moved to Music City, Nashville, TN where he is embarking on a project as Hobo Cane.

Hobo Cane was awarded a Telly Award in 2015 for Best Original Music in a docoumentary called "The Forsaken." He has also shared the stage with the likes of Chuck Berry, Los Lobos, Willy Nelson, Great Big World, and more. Most recently, Hobo Cane has found a warm songwriting community in Nashville with the Grammy-nominated Barry Dean as well as Grammy Award winners Luke Laird, Lori McKenna, and many others. Ever the dynamic performer, Hobo Cane has also performed alongside Nashville hit makers Michael W. Smith, Jars of Clay, Chris Tomlin, and Ben Folds, in addition to securing countless television and movie song placements.

Why Hobo Cane? "According to the critics, I've always been too Rock for Pop, too Pop for Alternative, too Anglo for Latin and even sometimes too Latin for Anglo. I think that's a good thing. A hobo is a transient and migrant worker. I've moved from place to place all my life, and I was raised among different cultures and languages. I think my songs are influenced and enriched by that diversity. I want to help destroy the stereotype of any music. My mother's last name is 'Cañas', which means 'Canes' in Spanish. So that's me... HOBO CANE.”

Tommy Halloran

Tommy Halloran

As a solo artist and as frontman of Guerrilla Swing, Tommy Halloran performs over 300 shows per year, playing everywhere from airports and smokey clubs to historic theaters and grand outdoor festivals.  His music is a gumbo of jazz, blues, bossa nova, folk, and rock n' roll.  Tommy Halloran performs old-timey music anyone would appreciate... He is to jazz as Uncle Tupelo was to country-western or Steve Earle to bluegrass. He possesses the schooling (both formal and hard-knocks) as well as the "chops" of a great jazzman... The basic truths of Delta-blues, swing, Gospel, and Bohemia are deeply rooted in Tommy's songwriting psyche. Like Randy Newman or Tom Waits (who seldom appear in the same sentence), his cooking belies his ingredients.

Tommy Halloran's Guerrilla Swing was voted "Best Jazz Band" in the River Front Times Music Awards in 2014 and 2015, and was named St. Louis' "Best Band" by that paper's editorial staff in 2014.  Guerrilla Swing features saxophonist Kristian Baarsvik, bassist Andy Hainz, and drummer Jharis Yokley.

Guerrilla Swing released their debut album "Under The Catalpa Trees" in 2014.  Halloran released "Moan & Shout", a solo album featuring many of St. Louis' finest musicians, in 2010.  A new EP, "State Streets" is scheduled to be released on vinyl in early 2016.
